A. Megashare is free, secure, 100% reliable storage for ALL your content. Including photos, videos, music, documents and your favourite web links. Access your content from anywhere, any time.
A. It's quite technical, but it essentially boils down to this: if you're accessing Megashare from behind a proxy server (a transparent service that runs away to get the files, photos and videos you asked for), it appears (to us, at least) that all requests are coming from one computer even if they're not. If we switched this ‘checking' security off, there are some who may be so inclined to take advantage of our good nature by downloading data way in excess of our Fair Usage Policy meaning slow, cumbersome downloads for everyone else (remember dial-up?).
A. There are ways to disable your proxy server but if you can't, it's well worth thinking about an upgrade to our Premium Service. For a minimal cost, the benefits include unlimited, instant and faster downloads, a massive 600Mb upload file size limit, a Pause/Resume function and complete statistical analysis of all your Megashare activity.
It's important to understand at this point that without these safeguards in place, your Megashare would simply not be as good as it is!
A. We're sure you probably already know what you can and can't upload, but to clarify, you may not upload material owned or copyrighted by someone else without their permission, such as music and video clips and you absolutely cannot upload pornographic material of any kind whatsoever.
A. In order to log in, you need to have your Cookies enabled. Additionally, if you paid for your membership using an ‘E-Check', you won't be able to log in until your funds have cleared. This can take 3-4 working days, so please be patient.
A. Files are deleted unless they have been accessed at least once in any 30-day period. If your file has been downloaded at least once every 30 days, it will NEVER be deleted.
A. If you're using URL uploads, we will download the file you request and automatically upload it to Megashare. On the main page, click ‘URL Uploads' and add the URL (website address, e.g. www.bbc.co.uk). We will then download the file to our servers. If the file you're trying to upload isn't hosted on your local computer, a URL upload is usually much faster.
An FTP upload is similar to a URL upload. Use the FTP option when the file name starts with ‘ftp://' instead of ‘http://'.
A. Yes you can. Just use http://LOGIN:PASSWORD@www.server.com/file.zip and replace LOGIN with your username and PASSWORD with your password. We'll then log in to that server with the data you provide and download the file you asked for.
Please note that our system automatically deletes your URL address including your username and password as soon as the upload has been finished or cancelled, so your login information are safe with us!
A. As we said earlier, you need to have Cookies enabled on your system. For information on how to do it, click here. Also make sure you don't have any type of software installed on your machine that blocks Cookies (some firewalls do this, so check yours).
A. You can if you have a Free Premium or Premium account. Our free users are restricted to 1GB, but our Free Premium and our Premium account holders can upload UNLIMITED file sizes, though local fair use restrictions may apply
